Marcus Aurelius

Proudly owned by Amy Gill, Amber Lane Farm, Inc.

Amy purchased Marcus Aurelius, affectionately known as Marc in December of 2001.  Below, is an excerpt from a recent email she sent us:

"Though he wears a bit of racing jewelry, remarkably Marc is totally sound.  His balance is a testament as to how horses built uphill  that can use their hind ends can manage to stay sound.

In March, I started him under saddle and it was worse than starting a
yearling.  He had no concept of what a bit was for and could only canter - did not know how to trot.  Several months of "just go forward and long and low" was all we could do.

Finally, he started to trust me with his mouth and began to flex at the poll.  Things progressed rapidly from there, as he was starting to bloom on the lush KY pasture and really put on some muscle.

His favorite things are playing "chicken" with his best friend Paddy, a 3 year old TB/Perch cross gelding, and racing our mini stallion up and down the fence rows! He is an amazing trail horse, never spooks and is as honest as they come.

We starting eventing in June, and Marc has done very well, though is still a bit nervous at the shows.  He has won numerous ribbons and I know he will be the one to beat once he relaxes into his new job.  As you can see from the pictures, Marcus, the racetrack reject is now an awesome event horse with a very bright future in from of him.  Here is one happy horse!"
