"First Touch" on the Road to Recovery

First Touch is a 4 year old mare who was seriously injured in a trailer accident. Literally seconds away from being euthanized due to the severity of her injuries and substantial vet bills, a generous donor stepped in to give her a second chance at life. First Touch became a CANTER Texas owned horse and has recently been adopted into a wonderful home where she will continue her extensive rehabilitation. She is an incredible mare who has shown she has the true heart of a Thoroughbred and a strong will to survive. Please consider a donation to CANTER Texas via PayPal to CanterTexas@gmai.com to enable us to continue helping horse's like her.

CANTER Texas Graduate Rocks the Ultimate X Showdown!

legacyposter

When Decotah Jackson saw the handsome grey MIKE'S STORM on the CANTER Texas Trainer Listings page, it was love at first sight. Decotah was searching for a horse to compete in the Ultimate X Showdown, a challenge in which trainers have 100 days to take a fresh off the track Thoroughbred racehorse and compete in a combined barrel racing and freestyle exhibition.

MIKE'S STORM was re-named "Legacy" and after 100 days together, they headed from Texas to Ohio where they finished a fantastic 6th out of 15 trainers overall! Congratulations to Decotah and Legacy from all of us at CANTER Texas! We look forward to seeing them turnin and burning their way around barrel racing competitions here in Texas and showing off how ex racehorses excel in their post track careers!
