CANTER California runs an adoption program to help place Throughbreds off the track and also posts listings of horses for sale by owner and trainers. The Canter program was brought to California in 2008 and we service all California tracks. Contact Ali, canterca@canterusa.org. Jockey Meet and Greet at Del Mar

CANTER will have a booth at the Del Mar races. Come meet the Jockeys in town for the meet, learn more about CANTER and show your support. Come meet these Jockeys and more: Rafael Bejarano, Martin Garcia , Joe Talamo, Victor Espinoza, David Romero Flores, Christian Santiago Reyes, Jesus Velazquez.

Join the 500 Club

Join our 500 Club by donating $10 a month for a year. We will thank you with one of our OTTB stickers and a CANTER t-shirt (if we don't have your size we will send our note cards instead, or turf club tickets if available). Our goal is to have 500 individuals donate for one year. All donations go straight to the care of our horses.

Tracking The Ex-Racehorses of America

A University of Arizona Race Track Industry Program Student is conducting a study as part of a required student project tracking Thoroughbred and Standardbred horses in non-racing uses. The objectives of this study are:

Where are retired racehorses going after leaving racetrack training? Can these horses find satisfied owners and success in competition in careers in a variety of sports in America after racing on the flat track?
Are there particular American sires whose offspring are especially successful in second careers?
How are non flat racing Thoroughbred and Standardbred owners obtaining their off the track horses?
