Help CMA Raise Much Needed Winter Hay Funds!

CMA is launching a Winter Hay drive, in hopes of raising 4500$

Please consider buying a "bale" at 8$, or including CMA on your Holiday Card list and enclosing a small donation.

CANTER Mid Atlantic is asking our readers, browsers and purchasers to help us continue taking in needy thoroughbreds, rehabilitating them, retraining and rehoming them.  CMA always believes that the slow way is the best way to find the best home and match for a horse, and we work very hard to ensure that all of our horses receive any and all attention that they need. We pride ourselves in the quality of the horse we make available to our adoptors, and not the quantity.  Doing this is very expensive for the organization, but we feel it is the primary mission of CANTER.  To do any less would not honor our mission, nor the deserving horses we help. Please consider a donation to CANTER Mid Atlantic so that we can continue putting our best foot forward for the horses. We currently are caring for 29 horses that need time, therapy, and retraining.  Many have injuries that deserve time to heal, and we need help to continue giving it to them.

Thank you so very much for your consideration.

Congrats to Jessica Morthole, of CANTER Mid Atlantic!

CMA's Jessica Morthole was one of 26 trainers selected for the Retired Racehorse Training Project.  She was selected as a trainer to bring along an OTTB for four months out of nearly 200 entries.  Follow along as she blogs about her selected project, CMA-owned "Gib"

Congrats to Lynn Symansky, Winner of the CANTER High Point Thoroughbred Award at Rolex!

RW3A0450-Edit CMA was once again Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event to award one of 19 OTTBs the award for highest placement. A generous donation of a show halter by Five Star Tack, and a beautiful cooler from Exquisite Equestrian adorned the high point OTTB winners of this prestigious event.  Pictured: Lynn Symansky and her OTTB, Donner.  Congrats to Lynn from all of us at CMA!

All CMA horses have been let down for a minimum of 3 months, have had professional training for a minimum of 30 days and often more than 60 days.  They are all trail ridden, ridden in the ring, started over jumps

CANTER Horse Blogs- come follow along!

CANTER Mid Atlantic blogs have been a smashing success as indicated by our thousands of visitors.  In an effort to chronicle the ups and downs of Thoroughbred Retraining, we have several people who have volunteered to write about their day-to-day experience with individual horses. This has proven to provide a wonderful learning opportunity for the Thoroughbred-buying public, as well as being an amazing opportunity for our horses. Our goal to bring each horse from the racetrack to recognized competition has been going swimmingly, and we love the support along the way. If you haven't read the blogs, we hope you will, and join in on the journey.

Donate Now and support Horses in Need

CANTER Mid Atlantic, like everybody, is feeling the crushing effects of today's economy. CANTER Mid Atlantic is funded solely by the kindness of people who believe in our mission. Nearly 70% of our funding comes from donations that are under 50$, so you can see that indeed, every dollar makes a difference. Please consider donating even $5.00 towards caring for Thoroughbreds who were not lucky enough to be successful at the racetrack. Payments can be made directly to the organization through our Pay Pal link, Donation Address or directly to our Veterinarian. (Please contact CANTER if you'd like to send payment to vet). All donations go directly toward the care of Thoroughbreds until they find a new home.
