CANTER is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing retiring racehorses with opportunities for new careers.
2014 Young Rider Scholarships Awarded!
CANTER Pennsylvania, through the generous support of the Daignault family, is offering four (4) two-hundred fifty dollar ($250.00) educational scholarships for United States Pony Club or 4-H members who are residents of Pennsylvania and utilize a Jockey Club registered Thoroughbred for their project horse. Our objective is to encourage young riders to consider retired ex-racehorses as versatile mounts and to elevate horse and rider partnerships through the assistance of professional trainers and other educational opportunities.
Our CANTER volunteers were assigned an impossible task of narrowing down our Young Rider Scholarship applications to four deserving recipients. We were delighted to read each application and are very excited to see so many young riders connecting with TBs. The four recipients who will receive $250 educational scholarships are: Morgan Deiter, Meredith Girardey, Mallory Lawson and Tia Waldron!
