C-1283-11 CANTER owned Mare, 5 yrs. old, dark bay, 15.3 hands. "Naturally Swift" has received surgery for removal of bone chips and is currently rehabilitating. She may return back to work slowly by April. She should be good for full flat work and light jumping. She is a very sweet horse. She can be seen in Imlay City.

C-1290-11 CANTER owned Gelding, 4 yrs. old, dark bay. "Inmylifetime" has received surgery to remove fragments from a slight fracture of the right cannon bone. He is currently rehabilitating and may be returned to work slowly in April. He’s a sweetheart! He can be seen in Imlay City.

C-1292-11 CANTER owned Gelding, 3 yrs. old, chestnut. "Mister P" is a new addition and is currently being evaluated. He can be seen in Imlay City.

C-1306-11 CANTER owned Mare, 4 yrs. old, Bay. "Crosstown Journey" is a mare with a lot of potential. She is in work and needs to be brought along slowly but she will be worth it as she is presumed sound for all uses. Her previous racing owner calls for updates on this mare as she loves her dearly!!! She can be seen in Imlay City.

C-1324-11 CANTER owned Mare, Bay, 7 yrs, 15.2 hands. "Love and Hope" is a great mare that has the potential to be a nice youth horse. She stands well in the cross ties. She is currently recuperating from an injury she received from a playmate and may return to work in April. She can be seen in Imlay City.

CANTER owned Mare , 6 yrs. old, bay. "Bold Joi'ski" has received surgery to remove fragments from left ankle. She is rehabilitated and ready to return to work. She has great Hunter/Dressage movement and is approved for jumping. Can be seen in Imlay City.

CANTER owned Gelding, 8 years old, 16 hands, grey. Juan's Bouncer came to CANTER needing alot of groceries, but you should see him now! He is GORGEOUS and feeling great! His legs are very clean and he's got nice feet as well. He moves beautifully in his paddock...has a nice extended trot and always picks up his correct lead. Travels sound at a walk, trot, and canter. He walks quietly on a lead and he totally enjoys being groomed and fussed with. One evening he stood like a statue for 30 minutes while we trimmed him up and brushed him from head to toe! He needs some time under saddle and soon will leave his loving foster home (thank you Jeanne for taking such good care of him!) in Nunica for the CANTER farm in Imlay City. Keep checking the site for his photos...soon to be up!

Former CANTER horses need a new home!

Due to circumstances beyond their control, Larry and Annie need to find "Jungle Star" and "North Avenue" a new, loving home. They have been part of their family for the past 5 years. While it is one of the hardest things they have ever had to do, it is best for all of them.

"Jungle Star" is a 14 year old black bay TB gelding standing at 16 plus hands. He likes to be the alpha horse in the pasture but pastures well with others. He has undergone light training in the past year and has been under saddle during that time. He will not cross-tie but will single tie easily. He has soft eyes and a good temperament. With additional training and an experienced rider, he should make a great trail or pleasure horse.

North Avenue is a chestnut, 17 hands, ten year old thoroughbred who is deaf. While North Avenue can be ridden, he 'spooks' due to his deafness. He is not 'a Sunday Afternoon Ride' in that a rider can not let down their guard while riding him. He had 30 days of training put into him in December 2007 and did very well. He will make a good pleasure horse for the 'right' rider or a great pasture buddy. He loves to pasture with other horses. He is of good temperament and has very soft eyes.

Located in Edwardsburg, Michigan. A loving home is required and those interested must complete a CANTER adoption approval application. Because a good home is most important, NO price has been determined. Any monies received for the horses will be donated to CANTER so other TB's may be helped. CANTER Michigan, alone, has taken in over 100 horses in 2007 and dozens more will be coming our way as the racing season ends. Many of these new horses need immediate surgery, foot care, vaccinations, and lots of food.

CANTER Michigan is the ONLY equine rescue to accept ANY thoroughbred off the track, regardless of medical condition. We have never said “NO”… and don’t want to start now.
