WE NEED YOUR HELP!

CANTER Mid Atlantic desperately needs your assistance to continue our operations. Please consider donating even $5.00 towards caring for Thoroughbreds who were not lucky enough to be successful at the racetrack. Payments can be made directly to the organization through our Pay Pal link, Donation Address or directly to our Veterinarian. (Please contact CANTER if you'd like to send payment to vet). All donations go directly toward the care of Thoroughbreds until they find a new home.

CANTER Mid Atlantic Thanks

Thank you to everybody who participated in the Adam's Ribs fundraisers - over 500 people attended to CANTER's benefit.

Special thanks to Adam's Ribs and the large group of Maryland Fans of Barbaro (MD FOBs) that met at Adam's Ribs on Sunday August 10th - they won all 4 Surrey Gift Certificates which they then donated to CANTER Mid Atlantic.

Thank you to Thoroughbred Charities of America and Blue Horse Charities for assisting in the Continuation of CANTER's retraining program!

CANTER Mid Atlantic would like to thank SmarkPak for their donation announced at the 2008 Rolex 3-Day event in the name of Winsome Adante. We appreciate their support. Click HERE to visit the SmartPak website.

CANTER Horse Blogs
CANTER Mid Atlantic has started something new with a select few of our horses. In an effort to chronicle the ups and downs of Thoroughbred Retraining, we have several people who have volunteered to write about their day-to-day experience with individual horses. This will provide a wonderful learning opportunity for the Thoroughbred-buying public, as well as being an amazing opportunity for our horses. You will read about the good, the great, the bad, and the ugly. Our hope is to bring each horse from the racetrack to recognized competition. We hope you will join in on the journey.

From Olivia Weick--owner of "General Forrest"

I am just emailing you to tell you how wonderful General is. Today was General's first show in a couple months. We jumped four 2'6" courses and placed very well. Competition was a little stiff but we still got all seconds, thirds and fourths. My Little sister, she's 11, has also been slowly learning to ride General. She took him in the green hunter division. She did WONDERFUL! General was excellent! She had four classes, walk trot, she placed 5th out of 7, walk trot advanced, she placed 2nd out of 7, walk/trot/canter, she placed 1st, and cross rail canter course, she placed 3rd! She ended up taking Grand Champion! She was the youngest kid with the biggest and youngest horse! I was so proud of my baby and Liz! I'm so happy! He did so well! I love him so much! Here is a picture of me, Liz, and General!

From his former trainer:

This horse was purchased in July from a woman who found us from your site. This is JZ's Double cross.

From his former trainer:

Here is another one that you listed last summer Alone and Wild. His owner
went through 8 horses on trial before she found him. Her and her teenage
daughter event him.

From his former trainer:

Here is a horse that was listed back in July, he sold on the first day we had people look at him and has already been to an event. He name was Woolford.  They love him and thanks for your help.  Canter works!

FOSTER Homes Needed

CANTER Mid Atlantic is trying to pull as many horses off the track as possible, but we need your help. We are full to the gills and need foster homes in the Mid-Atlantic area that can take horses on short notice. If you can help, please email us.

Volunteers Needed

CANTER Mid Atlantic is looking to fill some volunteer positions at the racetrack. If you have one Saturday free a month to dedicate to assisting racehorses find new homes, and are comfortable with viewing hundreds of gorgeous horses each time without taking them all home, we've got the job for you! Email us today to find out when our next trip is. Sorry, but we can only take folks who are 18 or older due to track regulations.
