(From his new owner Karen) Just an update on Bruce (we renamed him Smokey)-- we still have him and we love him. We took him foxhunting a couple of weeks after we got him. Hejumped everything in the field his first time out! He was a little bit nervous but He is now learning his job and has calmed down considerably. |

Catermaran |
|||
Catermaran is doing well, we fight over who gets to ride him. He's been to a couple of shows and placed out of a nice crowd on the flat, so we feel confident it will be an easy transition for him. Someone obviously put some time on him while he was away from the track. Here are a few pics of the him mostly from the last show. At this place, they were erecting an indoor arena, about 200 feet from the main arena, while the show was going on. I thought he handled that major distraction much better than others did. |

I wanted to first off send you a pic of my CANTER boy at out first horse show! If you could forward it to Patty Simpson I'd appreciate it, I know she would be thrilled to hear about her boy "affirming lancer" or "bo" as she called him. He is now almost 8years old next Tuesday. Which in fact was the same day he arrived at my farm! He's come a long way and is a different horse. He is a hunter show horse!!! We (he and I) did 3 shows last year just local ones for fun, and he always pinned. So this spring I decided to heavily campaign him as a hunter show horse because he loves it soooooo much. He loves kids, attention, rubs, scratches, and of course any food you might have, and might I mention he loves Gatorade, coffee, and slurpees from 7-11. Can't you tell he and I lead the typical college lifestyle! Anyway I wanted to tell you that we had our first official show last week and we were RESERVE CHAMPION! I also wanted to email the pic of us, but his show name and stable name have changed. He is now the infamous "Jake Daniels" or Jake for short. I know Patty will be thrilled to hear how well he' s doing. -- Jessica Avila-Franco |

![]() Toujours |
|||
Here's a hardworker--winner of over $85,000 in 40 odd starts. Purchased off the track in March 2004, Toujours is featured here outriding at point-to-point races. Ex-racers make THE best horses; they fear nothing in the way of crowds and commotion because they have been there, done that, seen it all. -- Karen G. Trimmer |

Legacy would love to be the CANTER Poster child! She is all of a sudden SOOOO grown up. Last weekend at Phyllis Dawson's she was jumping corners and skinnies and yesterday at Sharon White's she was jumping skinnies, liverpools, and big oxers off of 10 meter turns. I rarely finish a lesson that some stranger doesn't tell me what an awesome jumper she is. Next week I'm going to ask Sharon to jump her for me so I can see her. The pictures I sent were obviously from last fall and she is jumping SOOOOO much better than that now! Nothing phases her and she just tries her heart out. She is like a little cat off the ground. So light and so much spring! Sharon said yesterday she kicks her hind end up SO high. I sure didn't expect all this when I saw some pictures of her jumping last spring. She was hardly bending her knees, let alone picking them up. She seems to have figured that all out though. The good news / bad news is: The good news is she is so light you hardly have to do anything, just sit quiet and let her do it and stay out of her way. The bad news is she is so light you hardly have to do anything, just sit quiet and let her do it and stay out of her way. Which is sometimes hard to do! I am SO proud of her! If you ever do any demo things for CANTER, let me know and I'll bring her! Debbie Brink, Virginia |

Lone Fan – aka Gumby |
|||
When I first saw Gumby (July 2004) at his foster care home, I fell in love with him. He was like a big puppy dog. I had to have him. I already had another TB gelding, so Gumby had a buddy to pal around with. They have been best buds from the moment they met. Since the first day home, he has been wonderful. He is so laid back. On his first trail ride that summer, he acted like he had been doing trails for years. He was so quiet and enjoyed his walk in the woods. Since then, we have done many overnight camping trail rides. He is wonderful on the picket line and enjoys those late night snacks. He loves to go out and is always eager to get on the trailer. Going out alone with him is no problem. We don't do much jumping other than the occasional log on the trail. He really enjoys water. He is such a good boy and loves his new career. I am so lucky to have been able to get him and give him the easy life he has (don't ask him about that after a 5 day ride). Thank you CANTER ! Lisa DeLauder Maryland |
