CANTER Mid Atlantic Operates solely on the generous efforts of volunteers. Because all donations are used for the operation of the program and care of horses, we are always in need of dedicated volunteers in several different areas. Interested in volunteering? Join our Yahoo Group! CANTER Mid Atlantic now has a Yahoo group that is free to join for anybody interested in volunteering. Joining is easy! Begin by clicking on the following link, and follow directions to join. Mail volume is relatively low, though it may increase as more people join. This is a great way to get involved with CANTER and see where you can jump in to help out.
Volunteer Duties include:
Track
Visits -- Volunteers visit the area racetracks on Saturday
mornings to walk the shedrows and meet with trainers. No prior
horse experience necessary, only an ability to walk and talk
with trainers, and help write down horse descriptions. New track
volunteers visit with experienced track 'leads' in order to
learn the process that CANTER follows while at the track. Interested
in visiting the track? Contact Beth@canterusa.org Marketing and Public Relations -- Volunteers are needed to create advertisements, press releases and articles for local publications. Fund Raising -- Fund Raising Chairpersons are needed to spearhead fundraising efforts to benefit CANTER horses. Have a fundraising idea? Please feel free to share it with us. Farm Visits -- Volunteers are needed for regular visits to one of three farms in Montgomery County housing CANTER horses. Feeding and grooming of horses is greatly appreciated. Thanks to them, we are able to continue helping owners and trainers place Thoroughbreds into loving homes. We are always looking for volunteers to visit the track, help with buyers and network in the Horse community.
