CANTER’S FOUNDER AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS NATIONAL AWARD!

July 11, 2005- JoAnne Normile, Founder and Executive Director of CANTER, (Communicational Alliance to Network Thoroughbred Ex-Race horses) was selected to receive the prestigious DOGWOOD DOMINION AWARD. The Dominion Award is presented by Cot and Anne Campbell of Dogwood Stables, Penny Chenery, and Jerry Bailey.

JoAnne Normile was honored at a noon luncheon held at Saratoga Race Track in Saratoga Springs, New York on Wednesday, August 3, 2005. Following the luncheon, JoAnne was the honored guest at Saratoga Race Track where she and her guests enjoyed watching “The New York Stallion Series” races.

JoAnne and her work with CANTER, were further acknowledged at Saratoga by having a race named in her honor. JoAnne was again in the winners circle to present a trophy to the winner of the race.

JoAnne Normile is no stranger to the winners circle.. both on the racetrack and off. Following her years as an owner of thoroughbred race horses and enjoying their competition ON the racetrack, JoAnne founded CANTER, to give ALL thoroughbreds an opportunity to find their new winners circle through retraining and competition in non-race events, or by enjoying trail rides with a new owner. Canter was founded while JoAnne served on the Board of Directors of MHBPA (Michigan Horsemen’s Benevolence and Protective Association). JoAnne saw Canter as the opportunity to link trainers, wanting to sell their horse, with non-race buyers looking for the athletic build and intelligence of a thoroughbred.

We welcome your congratulations to JoAnne and your continued support to her idea-turned-into-reality, CANTER.

Thank you,
