Rodney
Rodney
was a 5 year old horse that according to the owner had a habit of
"biting." Well, not people, just wood. Yes, he
was a cribber, but he was also the most big-hearted horse in all the
world. He took me from not knowing a THING about eventing all the
way through to the Preliminary Level. And in the winter he was
great at team penning--yes, herding cows. He was perfect in every
way in my eyes, and was my best friend for many years.
Because
there are so many big-hearted horses just like Rodney out there waiting
to find new careers, I believe a CANTER program is needed in every
track. So, together with some very special people that love racehorses,
we started a CANTER Program at Thistledown Racetrack. If you've
ever had a special ex-racehorse in your life, like Rodney was to me,
or would like to get to know one, please consider volunteering at
at CANTER program near you. - Nancy Scott
