Soon was listed by CANTER volunteers in June 2013, after starting 52 races with several wins and near victories. He was a favorite of his trainer and volunteers alike, loved for his quiet demeanor and lovable personality.
His listing caught Lindsey’s eye in July, and she hopped on a plane to come check him out. He shipped to his new home with her a week later, and started his journey to becoming a sporthorse. He spent a month relaxing in his new environment, becoming accustomed to daily turnout and becoming reacquainted with just “being a horse.” Lindsey did ground work with him every day, but it was quickly apparent that Soon was ready for a real job.

After only two months into retraining, Soon as already proven great heart, intelligence, and work ethic undersaddle. Lindsey takes great care to bring him along slowly and correctly with a basic dressage foundation, and he excels in his flatwork. He also is lovely to the jumps, hacks out on roads and trails whether alone or in company, and is gaining a following of admirers in the barn. He has shown once already, just three months off the track, and had a successful outing by placing second in a green hunter over fences class. He has also been to two USEF “A” rated shows just to hang out and gain experience, and he horse shows now like a seasoned veteran!

Lindsey’s hope is that Soon will be a good all-around horse for her to enjoy and just have fun with. Having grown up in the show hunter/equitation divisions, she also fell in love with eventing and fox hunting later in her riding career, and she hopes Soon will be game for a little of everything. Most importantly, his lovable personality makes him a true joy to be around. He has earned a forever home and a very special place in her heart!
